Developer Barunson Entertainment has announced that after nearly seven years of development, their flagship MMORPG Astellia will finally make its way to the West with a game launch in the summer of 2019. Before its release, Barunson will hold several betas and allow fans to try the game in some conventions starting with the upcoming PAX South in San Antonio, Texas on January 18th.

The yearly list of the 100 best selling games on Steam for 2018 as measured by gross revenue has been posted and as usual, a handful MMORPGs have been included. They are the games that made the most revenue on the platform this year. The list is categorized into tiers of Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze.
Likely due to the Summerset expansion in June and Murkmire/Wolfhunter content, The Elder Scrolls Online climbed from last year’s Gold tier ranking to this year’s Platinum tier, the highest level on the list. ESO is joined by Warframe in the Platinum tier.
Moscow-based developer Enplex Games has recently revealed a new sci-fi survival MMO on the horizon named Population Zero. Below is over 10 minutes of pre-alpha gameplay that shows off several of its features like housing creation, gearing, harvesting, and more.
The game is set in an alien planet called Kepler where players explore and fight for survival of their colonies. Population Zero will be played on PC and is currently in pre-alpha.
The team behind Population Zero is currently recruiting testers for pre-alpha and alpha testing stages. To sign up, visit the official Population Zero site. The game is expected to release late in 2019.
Just in time for the holidays, indie developer Novaquark has announced that everyone who has contributed money to their crowdfunding campaign of the sci-fi sandbox MMO Dual Universe will be able to play the game’s alpha version very soon. The event will run from December 20th, 14:00 UTC to Monday, January 7th, 14:00 UTC.
According to the most current release roadmap, Dual Universe is still set to have its full release in the second half of 2020, have a beta in the first half of 2020, and two more alphas in 2019.
Novaquark has announced that Dual Universe, their crowd-funded civilization-building sandbox MMO will have its Alpha 1 testing phases starting on November 29th. Alpha 1 access will be granted to all of the Kickstarter backers in waves. All current testers will automatically gain access to it too. Higher tier pledges will receive priority over lower tiers as invites are sent out 24 to 48 hours ahead of each testing session.
Packs can be purchased now from the Dual Universe site that will grant guaranteed access. Patron Packs at $180 grant access to the pre-alpha which is active now. Sponsor Packs at $120 will grant access to the upcoming Alpha 1. The Contributor Pack is the cheapest at $60 and will grant access to Alpha 2 that starts in the first half of 2019.
Star Citizen Launches Free To Play Trial Event With All Ships Flyable From November 23rd To December 1st
Star Citizen is a crowd-funded MMO that puts together a persistent universe, advanced space flight simulation and FPS (First Person Shooting). In celebration of the release of the game’s first explorable planet named Hurston, Star Citizen is launching a Free Fly event that will allow anyone to join the game’s persistent universe for free. To begin exploring the sci-fi MMO, you need a ship! At the start of every day during this event, players will have the chance to test every operable ship and vehicle for 24-hour tests.
KOG Games’ upcoming PvP-focused MMO KurtzPel: Bringer of Chaos has released a new look at the game’s current character creation process and PvE combat gameplay. Before KurtzPel opens its servers to closed beta testers later this week, excited fans can check out some gameplay footage.
The character creation video shows highly customizable male and female characters with many changable body attributes such as weight, height, build, muscle mass, and more. There are lots of hair styles and colors to choose from and some of which are similar to popular anime characters.
Nexon’s mounted combat MMO called Dragon Hound, previously only known as ‘Project DH’ will be making an appearance in this year’s G-Star event. G-Star 2018 is a large game show convention in South Korea that takes place every year. Dragon Hound was first introduced two years ago in G-Star 2016. The game uses Unreal Engine 4 and is developed by DevCat, the same folks behind Vindictus.
KOG Games has revealed that a closed beta testing phase is coming up for the PvP-focused anime action MMO KurtzPel. Sign ups for the closed beta is already open via a Google form. This event will be from November 15th to 18th. KOG has also announced that KurtzPel will be participating in G-Star 2018 which will take place on the same days as the closed beta. G-Star is the biggest game show convention in South Korea.
If this is your first time hearing about KurtzPel, the anime MMO consists mainly of PvP activities with small-scale PvE like 2-man co-op dungeons as part of its progression. While a story with animated cut-scenes will exist, we do not know how that will integrate with the game’s content.
