The next part of the Age of Discovery in Star Trek Online is coming soon on January 23rd and it’s called the ‘Mirror of Discovery’ update. Star Trek Online: Mirror of Discovery will be added on PC first and later on the console versions. This update will feature a new important character, Captain Killy, who is voiced by Mary Wiseman from the Star Trek: Discovery television series. Two new featured episodes titled ‘Para Pacem’ and The Illusion of Communication’ will be added with this update.
Gameforge has announced the latest character to join the SoulWorker gang and her name is Chii Aruel. The pink-haired girl character will be the seventh to be released. No information has been revealed about her abilities or release date yet.
Hopefully Gameforge will release a gameplay video soon so we can see how the epic left-hand sword and oddly shaped right-hand weapon function in combat. Chii Aruel will most likely release in Korea first and make her way to Gameforge’s NA/EU servers sometime after, so we’ll have to keep a close eye on the Korean version for her arrival.
Intrepid Studios has announced that the second open beta for Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse will be live from January 24th, 10am Pacific until January 27th 10pm Pacific. Ashes of Creation: Apocalypse is the battle royale standalone version of the sandbox MMORPG Ashes of Creation. To join, all you have to do is register here and download the latest patch.
Webzen has given word that in celebration of Shot Online‘s 14th anniversary, the free-to-play real-time golf game with MMORPG elements is coming to the Steam platform on January 22nd. Check out the Shot Online Steam store page for more information.
WarpPortal has announced the removal of the development team assigned to Ragnarok Online 2, the 3D sequel of the popular classic MMORPG Ragnarok Online. There will not be any more new content added to the game. This includes the once promised Niffleheim region that never came. Staff has stated that the game will not receive further support and in-game events are expected to come to a halt.
So what will remain of Ragnarok Online 2? Well, WarpPortal will keep the last remaining server up and the Kafra shop will remain open. They will also still handle player reports via the ticket system to monitor and remove cheaters from the game.
Citadel Studios has announced the upcoming release schedule for the moddable sandbox MMORPG Legends of Aria. A small update focused on bug fixes and quality life changes will come today on January 17th, and a Dungeon expansion update will come on January 30th. Developer Barunson Entertainment has announced that after nearly seven years of development, their flagship MMORPG Astellia will finally make its way to the West with a game launch in the summer of 2019. Before its release, Barunson will hold several betas and allow fans to try the game in some conventions starting with the upcoming PAX South in San Antonio, Texas on January 18th.
The sneak peak below shows off the various siege equipment like battering rams, catapults, trebuchets, and giant arrows that players will use to siege each other’s castles. The video is only a map preview so no characters or actual gameplay were shown yet. Castle sieges will be a part of the Ashes of Creation MMORPG as well.
Pearl Abyss has joined in on the Battle Royale hype! The Korean version of Black Dessert Online is set to launch a new battle royale mode called “Shadow Arena mode” on January 15th. Shadow Arena will set 50 players to fight against one another until only one is left standing.
Players will begin as small black spirits and find fallen adventurers to posses and control. Everyone starts on equal footing and gears in the existing BDO world do not matter inside. The goal is to acquire equipment and skills while destroying nearby monsters and supplies.
