Pearl Abyss and NCSoft had their turn of revelations and now it’s Nexon’s turn to show us how their games performed in Q1 of 2018 and what they have in line for the months ahead. The Tokyo-based developer and publisher raised a record-breaking ¥90.5 billion in revenue for the quarter that was “primarily driven by strong performance of Dungeon & Fighter in China around the Lunar New Year season”. PC revenue (84%) outperformed mobile revenue (16%) by a mile. China is responsible for a whopping (67%) of their total revenue for this quarter and Korea behind it with (22%). North America and Europe/others are far behind with a whopping (4%) per recognized region.
Lord of the Rings Online released a massive update (Update 22.2) on Wednesday, May 9th that comes with major changes to six classes in the game and extensive changes to the tactical relics system. The classes that recieved significant changes were the guardian, hunter, ministrel, warden, champion and lore-master. Tactical Relics which are items used for inserting additional bonuses to their users have been re-balanced to correct a mistake in their design.
Overall, the LOTRO community’s reception of the update is positive. It is apparent that many believe the update to be long overdue, but Standing Stone Games has a long way to go with re-balancing the rest of the game’s class roster. During the Bless Online press event in San Francisco on May 11th, the release date of the early access of Bless Online on Steam was finally revealed to be on May 30th with a 2 day head-start for Founder’s Pack purchasers. The event showed two new trailers to those who attended which were broadcasted on Twitch by several streamers. Neowiz has posted the two trailers on the Bless Online YouTube channel to be viewable to all in HD instead of low resolution Twitch VODs.
Bless Awakens is a cinematic trailer about the two warring nations of Union and Hieron. The second video shows samples of the combat for each of the classes that will initially be playable in Bless Online’s early access. While an explanation to why the new combat system is better than the old would have been a great pair to the Before & After video, there are obvious changes in the new combat such as a cleaner combat UI, lower cooldown durations and faster casting/animation.

Final Fantasy XIV Lodestone has posted a new Developers’ Blog in regards to the upcoming Under the Moonlight update that will come on May 22, 2018. The new update will bring “quality of life improvements that will surely enhance your FFXIV experience”.
- If you’ve ever been locked out of a boss room, then you know how frustrating it can be to stand behind a gate and listen to your team-mates beat the final dungeon boss. Now players will be able to force entry into boss rooms.
- Pets will no longer have the same marker as party member characters and will receive a unique new marker.
- A new Achievements tab will now show any achievements that are near completion and achievements that can be achieved within the character’s location.
- The warning message that is shown when a party leader queues for savage raid content that is past the party member’s raid progression will receive an additional confirmation prompt.
Pearl Abyss held their Q1 2018 earnings report conference call on May 11th and has made several announcements in regards to the future of Black Desert Mobile, the mobile rendition of the popular PC MMORPG Black Desert Online. Inven global reports that Black Desert Mobile will receive new PvP content including Conquest War and Battlefield in the coming months and is working towards the global version.
Neowiz has finally broken their silence in regards to the release date of the early access and founders packs of Bless Online. The game’s Early Access on Steam will be playable on May 30th at 10:00 AM PDT. There are three tiers of Founder’s Packs available as we found previously that are priced at $39.99 for the Standard Edition, $69.99 for the Deluxe Edition and a whopping $199.99 for the largest pack, the Collector’s Edition. Each of these packs will include the base game and and those who purchase any of the Founder’s Packs will receive a two day head start that will start on May 28th 10:00 AM PDT.
On top of this, we also now know that the base price for Bless Online’s early access will be $29.99 (prices may vary per country). All of these prices and items included are confirmed by information given in the Bless Online press conference that occurred today in San Francisco, California.
Blade & Soul‘s latest update titled Eternal Night is now live as of today and it brings new raid dungeons with it!
The new 12-man raid, Nightfall Sanctuary Part 1 throws players in with the Celestial Emperor’s automaton guardians. Players must complete The Emperor’s Tomb – Chapter 5 to partake in stopping Chol Mugo from gaining more strength and power.
Project TL or Project “The Lineage” is NCSoft’s newest venture with the 20 year old Lineage franchise. The in-development project will be the remake of NCSoft’s unreleased Lineage Eternal game and will act as the sequel to the original Lineage game. While not much is known about Project TL’s gameplay, we know that it will offer a single character system that Lineage Eternal lacked and will be an MMORPG created with Unreal Engine 4.
NCSoft released their first quarterly earnings performance report today which is paired up with a lengthy Earnings conference call. In this quarter’s call, Jae-Soo Yoon, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of NCSoft has stated that Project TL is running very well in terms of development and NCSoft has a very positive evaluation of its development team. As a result of that, they believe that they would be in a position to conduct Closed Beta Testing for Project TL within the second half of 2018! Of course, this will most likely apply to Korean players only.
Ascent Infinite Realm, the upcoming steam-punk themed MMORPG broke silence last week by showcasing the inhabitants of its game world in People of Nousgard. As promised, Kakao Games Community Manager Praballo has shared another lore blog post. This time he has showcased the ferocious Creatures of Nousgard. As a disclaimer, he states that some of the artwork are still works in progress and may be different later on in the game.
