Black Eye Games has been hard at work on polishing the medieval MMORPG Gloria Victis in the past several months with changes to the game’s open-world PvP, new animations, controller compatibility/synchronization and more. First-person view was introduced along with new locations for players to fight over and siege each other for. A new duel arena was also added recently that allows players to practice combat near their nation’s capital city without having to risk all that they’ve worked for.
Now an extension to customizing one’s character has been added in the form of a huge passive abilities, trigger abilities and top tier passives update. Passives are expanded by investing progress points to unlock new skills. Trigger abilities are skills that initiate special moves when a specific requirement is met. For example, if a player successfully blocks with a shield 3 times in a row within 30 seconds, the shield’s resistance loss is reduced by 2% per level and additional 10% at level 10. This abilities update lets us see the first version of viable support trees that allow players to improve first aid skills.

Bless Online is getting closer and closer to its Steam beta in May and now Neowiz has shared the current state of the combat for each class that will be playable in the initial Steam version. Familiarize yourself with all of the different combat styles by watching gameplay previews and reading the combat details for Guardian, Ranger, Berserker, Mage and Paladin. Keep in mind that the preview videos were taken in a development environment and does not reflect the final version (e.g. names might differ).
While a specific date has not been mentioned yet for Bless Online’s first Steam beta, many speculate that an announcement will be made for it during Bless Online’s press event that will occur on May 11th in San Francisco, California. It can’t be much later than that anyway, so it’s quite a likely scenario.
Update: The videos are now accessible on Bless’ Pmang YouTube channel.
The Germany-based publisher, Gameforge has just posted a 3 second teaser GIF on SoulWorker‘s Facebook page captioned with “Very Soon” and accompanied with the comment of “Jin?”. We can only assume that this means Jin Seipatsu, the lightning fist character will be added to SoulWorker’s roster as a new playable character soon. Gameforge’s SoulWorker currently has four playable characters and we know that Jin Seipatsu was added as the fifth character for the Korean and Japanese versions of the game.
SoulWorker fully launched just at the start of April which will make Jin the first character expansion for the English version. It is good to see that Gameforge seems to have chosen not to take their time with character releases.
MapleStory 2 has drawn a lot of attention lately with the highly anticipated English version’s closed beta announced to arrive globally on May 9th. What you may not know is that MapleStory 2 already has two other existing and regularly updated versions; the Chinese version and the slightly older Korean version. Well, we all know where the money is in the gaming industry at the moment, so it’s not too surprising to hear that even the adorable Maple world is set have a battle royale PvP mode.
Nicknamed Mush King Championship, the survival PvP mode will allow up to 50 people to join a special arena where they will eliminate each other until only a single player remains. You can watch the Korean developer’s video below to see it in action (starting at 0:30 in the video).
A little less than one month from now on May 24, the upcoming multiplayer co-op monster hunting game Dauntless will finally head into open beta. To get ready for that and bolster up the amount of content that a large initial burst of players will be basing their judgement on, Pheonix Labs will be releasing the ‘Seeking the Horizon’ update on May 2. The update will come with several new features such as the redefined progression system, a reputation system and more.
The new feature that stands out above many is the addition of ‘hunt’ choices. When it comes to hunting behemoths players will be able to choose between the challenges of a ‘Patrol,’ ‘Expedition’ or ‘Pursuit’.
The upcoming Wuxia-themed MMORPG Moonlight Blade has decided to join the Battle Royale craze with a new PvP map where players can turn into cats to sneak around, fight bosses for temporary powerful items and battle to the death.
While there have been nearly countless clones and renditions of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite created by Eastern game developers, traditional MMORPGs have mostly stayed away from the rapidly-growing Battle Royale craze. However, in the recent few months there is a noticeably large influx of MMORPG developers attempting to catch the eyes of the seemingly overnight success we call the Battle Royale fan-base.
Indie developer Citadel Studios has updated their roadmap and announced that the plan so far for their upcoming sandbox MMORPG Legends of Aria is to move onto open beta in June. Early Access will begin in July and will include the Final Wipe of Legends of Aria. At which point those who backed the game as Kickstarters and Founders will begin their one week headstart and the land rush will begin. The Early Access will not be available on the Steam platform.
A specified month or date for the final Steam launch or big market push is not on the roadmap yet, but their target for that phase is this coming Autumn. That is still an impressive timeline if they release fully in Autumn considering that Legends of Aria‘s Closed Beta was only a few months ago in January.
