Nintendo Switch players are getting another monster-hunting action co-op RPG! At E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), indie developer Phoenix Labs announced that Dauntless will be playable on Nintendo Switch later this year.

Dauntless is a free-to-play game and is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Phoenix Labs’ vision is to provide full cross-play between all consoles. Players will be able to continue their journey on the Nintendo Switch when it releases for that console.

Developer Phoenix Labs has announced that the first major content pack of the multiplayer action RPG Dauntless will arrive in August 2018. The content pack is called The Coming Storm which will include a new weapon, new challenges and a new area called Ostia. Dauntless states that players will be able to “play it free”.

Phoenix Labs’ CEO and Co-founder Jesse Houston and Director of Marketing Nick Clifford also revealed new information about upcoming content for Dauntless in an E3 2018 interview. Jesse states that in about eight weeks, a new behemoth and the sixth weapon type will make their way into the game. The next weapon will be a completely range weapon.

As is typical with open beta launches, players are reportedly experiencing loads of issues. The video introduces the game’s floating island setting and the the start of what all players of Dauntless will be participating in: hunting behemoths.

Over 100,000 players have already participated in Dauntless’ closed beta and at least another 700,000 players are confirmed to be registered for the upcoming open beta on May 24th. During the open beta, all players will have unlimited access to the floating islands of Dauntless. The game’s open beta was previously expected to release back in 2017, so Phoenix Labs has had time to build up a long list of excited players. A little less than one month from now on May 24, the upcoming multiplayer co-op monster hunting game Dauntless will finally head into open beta. To get ready for that and bolster up the amount of content that a large initial burst of players will be basing their judgement on, Pheonix Labs will be releasing the ‘Seeking the Horizon’ update on May 2. The update will come with several new features such as the redefined progression system, a reputation system and more.

The new feature that stands out above many is the addition of ‘hunt’ choices. When it comes to hunting behemoths players will be able to choose between the challenges of a ‘Patrol,’ ‘Expedition’ or ‘Pursuit’.

Phoenix Labs announced that Dauntless, the upcoming multiplayer co-op monster hunting game will head into open beta on May 24th of this year. The Vancouver based indie developer has got their hands full at the moment showcasing Dauntless to gamers in Boston for PAX East 2018.

The studio states that over 100,000 players have already participated in the game’s closed beta and an additional 700,000 players are pre-registered in preparation for the open beta. The game’s open beta was previously expected to come in the later part of 2017, so it’s had time to build up a nice list of players excited to slice tails off of giant lizard beasts.
